AMBER ROSE

MEREDITH ADKINS

Our first daughter, Amber Rose Meredith Adkins, 11 days old, Barboursville, passed away May 29, 2010, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born May 18, 2010, in Huntington, a daughter of Louis and Naomi Pusey Adkins of Barboursville. There were no funeral services. She will be loved and missed every day of our lives.

Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

DEILA (MOSLEY) ADKINS

Deila (Mosley) Adkins, 58, of Salt Rock, W.Va., passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial followed at Gill Cemetery, Salt Rock.

She was born April 22, 1952, in Floyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Harvey and Ruby Branham Mosley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Jim Mosley.

She was the devoted wife of Samuel Adkins of 20 years; loving mother of four children, Mark and Carol Kis, Pal Kis Jr. and Melanie Burns, Amy Kis and John Gallion, and Stacy and Samuel Harrah; loving stepmother of five, Kathy and Scotty Maynard, Craig and Carrie Adkins, Aaron and Allison Adkins, Joe and Angel Adkins, and Lance and Karen Adkins; grandmother of 19, Tyler Kis, Zackery Kis, Thomas Kis, Pal Kis III, Shane Kis, Kyle Kis, John Brady Gallion, Eleanor Harrah, Samuel Harrah Jr., Savannah Harrah, Sandra Johnson, Susan Workman, Kayla Adkins, Tillman Adkins, Samuel Adkins, Jack Adkins, Mikayla Adkins, Madeline Adkins and Haley Adkins; and great-grandmother of two, Jordan and Ciara Maynard.

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Elfredia Mullins, Charles and Darlene Mosley, Lillie and Clyde McCoy, Thomas Mosley, Sherry and Denver Lanham, Rick and Gwen Mosley, Randy Mosley, Nellie and Joe Serback, Sheila and David Dean, Rodney Mosley, Harry and Ann Mosley, Regina and Charles Finley, Deltamon Mosley, and Carol and Edwin Caraballo; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Anna Adkins, Leah and Charlie Gill, David and Bonnie Adkins, Mary and Raymond Cazad, Helen and Jimmy Gill, and Sheila Adkins.

Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

WANDA WELMA ADKINS

Wanda Welma Adkins, 85, of Branchland, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 28, 2010. She was a current resident of the Lincoln Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hamlin, W.Va.

She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Glenwood, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wilbert R. and Nina Hudson Brumfield of Glenwood, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvel Adkins; one son, Hearl Adkins; and a daughter-in-law, Wilma "Tink" Adkins.

She is survived by two sisters, Sally Joann Waugh of Eljin, Ill., and Sue Waugh of Glenwood, W.Va. She was also survived by seven children, Sonja Adkins-Williams (Ferrell) of Clendenin, W.Va., Irvin Adkins, Dennis Adkins (Karen), Denny Adkins and Leland "Pudden" Adkins (Connie), all of Branchland, W.Va., Darrel Adkins (Candice) of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, and Randel Adkins (Vickie) of Huntington, W.Va. She had 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

There were no funeral services. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, assisted the Adkins family.

NORMA MAY BERRY

Precious Loving Mother, Norma May Berry, 95, of Salt Rock, W.Va., was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 31, 2010. She was born June 6, 1914, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late H.S. and Bertha Bailey Nida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Herman Berry; two sons, Charles Eugene Berry and Hallie Doyle Berry; a great-grandson, Nathan Porter; six sisters, Hess Dolen, Ida Belle Stephens, Lillian Adkins, Nellie Gue, Earlisee Nida and Babe Nida; and six brothers, Earl Nida, Jesse Nida, Wetzel Nida, Jack Nida, Johnny Nida and Carl Nida.

Norma was a charter member of Gloryway Baptist Church and loved working with flowers and collecting poetry.

She is survived by four daughters, Earlisee Porter and her husband, Greg, of Barboursville, Janice Newman and her husband, David, of Salt Rock, Patricia Ross and her husband, James, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Brenda Berry at home; two sons, Kenneth Berry and his wife, Shirley, and Herman Berry and his wife, Parshia, all of Vero Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Rev. Herb Nida of Salt Rock, and Rev. Calvin Nida of Barboursville; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. David Cardwell. Burial followed in Baylous Cemetery.

Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, assisted the Berry family.

Norma was loved by all and was an inspiration to many. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

DANNY LEE CHAPMAN

Danny Lee Chapman, 71, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at HeathPark Hospital, Fort Myers, Fla., following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 1, 1938, in Milton, W.Va., a son of the late Louis and Josephine Chapman.

He was retired from American Car & Foundry.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Chapman; a son, Tony (Brenda) Chapman, Huntington, W.Va.; two daughters, Anje (Tim) Bogott, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Cathy (Kevin) Conaway, Hurricane, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Summer Chapman, Justine and Timmy Bogott, and Jimmy and Jeffrey Conaway. He is also survived by a sister, Dorcas (Glen) Watson; one brother, Aaron (Sue) Chapman; father-in-law, Woodrow (Juanita) Reynolds; a special niece, Kimberly Catania and her children, Anthony and Taylor; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ray Chapman and Valgene Chapman; a sister, Donna Todd.

He attended Daybreak Fellowship Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

EVELYN DANIELS

Evelyn Daniels, 82, of Monroe, Mich., passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010. Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Chelcie Gibson. Burial followed in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

She was born May 29, 1928, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Tom and Ethel Blake Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion McNeely; and two brothers, Harold J. and Bernie Shaffer.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Bill) Wick of Ona, Marsha (Daniel) Stanley of Monroe, Mich.; two sons, Phillip (Ruby) Daniels of New Baltimore, Mich., William (Pam) McNeely of Macomb Township, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Amy (James) Lewis, Beth (Mark) James, Laura (Keith) Wood, Tim (Cheryl) McNeely, Shawn McNeely, Christie (Kevin) Stewart, Brad Daniels, Sidney Stanley; and seven great-grandchildren.

EVELYN M. JEFFREY EDEN

Evelyn M. Jeffrey Eden, widow of Ernest Eden, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. She was born on Davis Creek Road, Barboursville, W.Va.; where she lived all her 92 years. She was the middle child of 10 and the only daughter of Pappy and Mammy Jeffrey. Surviving are Stacey (Juanita) Jeffrey, Jack (Peggy) Jeffrey, Pauline Jeffrey and Sadie Jeffrey.

Her other surviving family members are her children, E. Michael Eden and Barbara Blankenship; her grandchildren and their families are: Ann, Sam and Sara Combs; Kym, Matt, Todd, Joshua, Jonathan, Christian and Amber Monk; Jeffrey and Beth Eden; Randall, Sandy and Cody Blankenship; and Chase McCaw; and Shannan, Chris Layne and Eden Powell; special friends include Joan, Aileen, Rachel and Mary; one special nephew, Larry Jeffrey, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn's baking skills could put Martha Stewart to shame! She was the master of pies, cobblers and growing flowers. She had a great zest for life and slid down her first slicky slide at the young age of 84.

She was the oldest surviving member of Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church.

She will be greatly missed by all. We love you bushels Nanny!

Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

HAZEL MARIE GIBSON

Hazel Marie Gibson, 86, of Milton, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastors Bill Spears and Bob Ray officiating. Burial followed in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.

She was born Sept. 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Vernon S. and Ora Sovine Chapman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Eschol "Eck" Gibson and her son, Curtis E. Gibson; brothers, Claude, Bill and Ernest Chapman, and sister-in-law, Helen Chapman.

Mrs. Gibson was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church of Milton. She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Gibson, Kathryn (Bill) Davis and Troy (Karen) Gibson; daughter-in-law, Donna Gibson; grandchildren, Richard Davis, Scott (Anita) Davis, Dwight (Christy) Gibson, Cheryl (Shawn) Bostic, Cherie (Shawn) Womack, Tammy (Chris) Clower, Timothy Gibson and Eric (Stephanie) Fetty; great-grandchildren, Jared and Jordan Clower, Kelsi Gibson, Kayla and Derek Bostic, Trey, Sierra and Nate Womack, Cassie Davis, Ashton Cook, Jackson and Ella Marie Fetty.

Also surviving are a brother, L.E. "Gene" (Margaret) Chapman; sisters-in-law, Louise Chapman and Faye Braley. She had many special nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Bill Chapman Jr., John Myers and Connie Sovine.

MARK ALAN JEFFREY

Mark Alan Jeffrey, 46, of Barboursville, died Saturday, May 22, 2010. He was born March 8, 1963, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Fred S. and Phyllis Jean Johnson Jeffrey. He was preceded in death by one brother, Brian Keith Jeffrey, also of Barboursville.

Mr. Jeffrey was a graduate of Barboursville High School, a former member of the Army National Guard, served in the United States Marine Corps and had attended Marshall CTC.

Mr. Jeffrey is survived by his parents, three sons, one brother, one niece and one nephew.

Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of private services.

HOWARD C. OLDAKER

Howard C. Oldaker, 80, of Glenwood, W.Va., passed away Friday, May 28, 2010, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Max Spurlock officiating. Burial followed in Beale Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove, W.Va.

He was born March 29, 1930, in Glenwood, W.Va., a son of the late Birt C. and Mary Nibert Oldaker. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Oshel, Dewey and Walter Oldaker; and two sisters, Ora Day and Lorena Booth.

Mr. Oldaker attended Faith Gospel Mission, Glenwood, W.Va. He was a very skilled craftsman, a member of the American Archaeological Society and a retired welder from CSX Railroad.

He is survived by his life-long soul mate, Belva Wallace Oldaker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Ralph E. Thomas Jr., and Kimberly Oldaker and Joseph Kidd; very special grandson, Ralph E. "Tate" Thomas III; two very special great-grandsons, Cory and Ryan Thomas; one sister, Dorothy Irwin of Glenwood, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends.

MARY ELLEN OSBORNE

Mary Ellen Osborne, 92, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at her residence with loved ones. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Tommy Jeffrey. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Mary was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Cabell County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Lena Nunley and Mansfield Bias.

She retired from the Huntington Manufacturing Company and was a member of Dillon Chapel Church for many years until her illness prevented such.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Osborne; daughter, Anna Osborne; and one brother, Donald Bragg.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Bess Osborne of Barboursville, and David and Donna Osborne of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and John Acampora of Jacksonville, Fla., and Martha and Billy Bryant of Huntington, W.Va.; sister, Dorothy Johnson; grandchildren, Terry Osborne, Lynn Osborne, David Zirkle, Jimmy Osborne, Penny Perdue, Jessica Osborne, Steve Osborne, Karen Midkiff, Carolyn Allen, Jack Turner, LeAnn Willis, Michael Acampora, Jeanne Davis, John Acampora and Mary Acampora; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Sue Greene.

CHAPMAN "CHAPPIE"

RUTLEDGE JR.

Chapman "Chappie" Rutledge Jr., 83, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Mercer County, a son of the late Chapman and Ruby Dooley Rutledge.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from AEP after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Blankenship Rutledge; two daughters, Debra Justice (Charles) and Pam Mancuso (Frank); one son, Paul Harless; two sisters, Coraine Blankenship and Peggy Burson (Fred); grandchildren, Eric Justice (Cindy), Chad Justice (Wendy) and Taylor Wilson; great-grandchild, Daniel Justice.

The family requests memorial contributions are sent to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 31, 2010, at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton, with Pastor Ralph Calfee officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Local arrangements were in the care of Wallace Funeral Home, Milton.

FLINT E. VENOY

Flint E. Venoy, 49, of Milton, W.Va., passed away Saturday at his residence. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, by Minister Chris Roberts.

He was born Sept. 19, 1960, in Cabell County, a son of Bryan "J.B." and Piney Bledsoe Venoy of Milton.

Flint was a 1978 graduate of Milton High School.

Also surviving are his daughter, Andrea Venoy of Flatwoods, Ky.; and his son, Max Venoy of Huntington; one sister, Kathy Jack Eplion of Milton; and a niece, Chandra Jack.

Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

PAUL WILSON WARD

Paul Wilson Ward, 89, of Lesage, W.Va., widower of Wilma Jean Ward, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. He was a retired machinist from Sturm Machinery. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, was in charge of arrangements.
